POLICY
The principal interest of Transactions on Operational Research
(TOR) is to disseminate knowledge pertinent to the advancement and the use
of science in finding effective and efficient solutions to complex
organizational problems. Emphasis will be on issues related to
manufacturing, service and social systems, such as designing, and planning
for the purpose of achieving better performance. TOR will publish original
research articles dealing with all aspects of operational research broadly
defined. Survey papers of wide interest may also be published
occasionally. All papers are expected to have high quality. In a wider
framework, any paper which adopts a systems approach can be submitted to
TOR. No specific restrictions are imposed as to the method of inquiry used
and the areas of application. This policy is expected to stimulate the
discussion of important organizational issues that are new or less open to
analysis, especially those which are significant to economies in
transition or in a restructuring phase. Papers addressing such questions
are encouraged and will be processed with priority. The journal is also
willing to receive bold, controversial or speculative papers which offer
ingenious approaches to problems that defy conventional analysis. The
principal criterion in accepting the submitted papers is the insight
provided for real-life decision making. All manuscripts are subject to a
thorough review process. TOR will be published biannually in English and
Turkish. It intends to use all modern means to provide a fast evaluation
and printing process; papers which do not require major revision should
appear in print within a year.
